ABOUT ME

Design | Writing | Photography

My name is Durva Simone Bose. With a background in Fashion & Textiles, I always thought I would find myself designing collections and searching for my next muse. Turns out, fashion was my muse, and writing was my medium instead. Not (just) writing about garments, but the people and resources it takes to make them. The innovative approaches businesses take to combat some of the largest socio-political and economic issues, within one large behemoth of an industry - fashion. I want to further research about the psychology of consumption, to better understand how we can solve some of the world's greatest puzzles by being more mindful.

So, yes I do write about trendy dresses, just as often as I do about experimental fabrics made from food by-products in an attempt to combat wastage and overproduction. I also write about the ethicality of consumption, aka not buying more than you need (and then shaming myself in the process). Most importantly, I write to make myself more aware of the impact I have, as a human, on the planet. I learn as I write, and I educate myself on how I can make better decisions, and do better by myself.

Here is a photo of me upcycling my Dad's old (but on-trend) Houndstooth jacket. Being sustainable looks and feels good, kids.
